Considering a Short Sale? The state has some advice for you!

The State of Washington has a web page that is a “Guide to Short Sales for Sellers” from the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions.  It is actually pretty good.  It is a pretty good guide and checklist to make sure you understand what you may be getting into if you decide to pursue a short sale on your home.

It does tell you that the short sale could still mean that the lender might still try to collect the difference between the sale proceeds and the loan from you.  It cautions against the many types of scams that are out there claiming to help you rescue your home that really are intended to take your home and equity from you.

It has links to Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved counselors and links to other non-profit foreclosure counseling.  It also give the great advice of suggesting (more)
